How to CRH in a town that has a monster hunter?

The town I work in has a lot of banks for it's size. So when I started CRH I had no problem making my rounds and finding lots of hand rolled halfs to go through. Then the "CRH Monster" moved in to town. Seems like he hits every bank in town a couple times a week. Every time I go into a bank they either say "We just sold them all to a guy" or " We have almost $500 that someone just droped off". He reuses the rolls that come in the fed boxes.
So I started hitting the next town over. My luck picked up and silver was flowing again. Then he expanded to that town and it dried up except for his dumps. I aways use the coin machine at one of the local Credit Union as my dump bank. I try to spred it around to all of them in the area instead of using just one.
I did have one bank that he didn't use that I was getting 3-4 rolls every month or so. I went there yesterday morning and they said they had $400 in halfs. I took $300. When I opened it I found they came from his rerolled fed box. Funny thing was that on the the end of one of the roll was a half with "3/07" written with a blue sharpie. I did that when I thought marking coins I had gone through was a good idea. So he either got my dumps or they got recycled through the fed boxs. I took it next door to one of the banks he orders from and dump them. Maybe he'll get his rerolled dumps back...hehehe.
I like doing fed boxs as well as hand rolls. But I would like to find some hand rolls once in a while. I would love to meet this guy and figure out his routine. I have figured out that he orders from Wachovia most places and dumps at BOA or Sun Trust. But in some areas of town he orders boxs from Sun Trust and dumps at Wachovia.
Any one have any ideas on how to work around this guy?

When I expanded into official CRHing I had been doing pennies informally (buying 5 or 10 bucks at at time from banks) for about 4 years. What I learned from my penny searches I expanded into my half searches. For me, lesson #1 is, hand rolls have been picked through. Even rolls with copper would not have wheats and many hand rolls were all zinc bombs. So when I started ordering boxes, and found my copper yield was averaging more like 25-26% vs the 21-22% I was averaging I came to the conclusion that hand rolls are more "risk" than they are "reward".

I think halves, which have no rightful place in today's society besides a casino or a CRHers "to-do" pile, are an even greater risk of being someone's dumps when you find rolls in the bank. While I have had plenty of skunk boxes and I consider 4 40%ers out of a box as a "score", its some comfort that while I am certainly sorting through dumps, but dumps that had to circulate back into the coin service companies at least.

Of course you guys are pulling more silver a week than I have in the last 3 months lol.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand the mentality of it being fun and cool to have someone search through your dumps on purpose? Do you like searching through dumps?
I do this for fun as i can compare it to scratching a lottery ticket except the losers are still worth face, I don't understand the 'There is competition in my area. I must slow them down, so I can have ALL the boxes of silvers to myself'. Of course there will be other people around that enjoy CRHing as much as you, and would probably dislike searching dumps as much as you. Maybe instead of working against each other, you can team up and try to get to the bottom of the pallet theory.

or you could paint the edges on some junk clad and seed the rolls you dump for him to find.

Wanna mess with him big time? Get like 2K in boxes. Take your dumps and color the edges w/ a silver sharpie. Go to each of his supply banks and hand roll them. Dump them in increments of $290, $310, odd numbers like that so he doesn't suspect it is someone's dump. Also when you bring them in but them in a cigar box or something like an old corona box. You could also write fake contents on the side. Along w/ the hand rolls also fill up a federal box and re use the wrappers, but also color these w/ the sharpie. In a week or 2 He will have stopped or at least cut back big-time on his supplies. He may switch from hand rolls to fed boxes so thats why I suggested planting a few decoy fed boxes. Just a suggestion. I think that would be a lot of fun! If you try it post your results! ;D ;D ;D

i would mess with him some, but i would not go to all the trouble of baking wrappers or marking coins, i would just find his supply bank(s) and dump on them hard and often. if he is truly a monster hunter (like i have been called) you are not going to stop him. you might want to try and reach out to him and make a plan and go at it together with a plan. ask the tellers about him, when he comes in, where he lives, etc. sooner or later you will find out. i know 2 other hunters in my town and the tellers tipped me off on both of them. have joined with one and we change information weekly, it can help you both find more....just a thought...with gas prices and the economy like it is it may save you time and money back tracking and doubling over each other at the banks...

how about this?

1) order at the banks he's ordering at. with the two of you pulling from the same pile you'll get deeper into the stash faster.

2) increase your box orders at above bank if possible. that way...if you and he do get to the "good boxes" you'll get the lion's share of the bling!!!

use him if it's not too late.

just a thought.

Unfortunately, the Golden Rule does not apply to capitalism. None of us wish bad things on anyone else, but we do want the best for ourselves. CRHing is fun because it is profitable. The more keepers a CRHer finds, the more profit he makes, and the more fun he has. We are all greedy in a way. Some CRHers deny it, but if you are searching through rolls of coins trying to hoard silver, you have some form of greed. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, or that we are evil in any way, but we want as much for ourselves as possible. Look at the animal kingdom, and you will see that no predator likes having competition for his food source. Those who claim that there is "enough silver to go around" need a lesson in economics. If there was a lot of silver around, it would not be worth anything. It could be said that there is enough money to go around... So why isn't Donald Trump sending me some of his to even out the distribution?
Capitalism.
Eventually, the bottom of the pallets will be reached no matter what. Eventually, we CRHers will end our own hobby (as far as silver finds go). We will pull out much more silver than what comes into circulation. Until then, it's every CRHer for himself!

I find this to be a disturbing topic. One of the points which no one has brought out is that people who are successful in life don't focus on others or try to sabatoge others, but focus on making themselves better irrespective of what others are doing. Try to cultivate alternate sources or just focus on a few of his banks and try to beat him to the coins. Coloring the rims of rolls.....come on, be a man about - we don't need to be acting like 7th graders, be a man and go out and find those coins. The thought of screwing with the competition can be fun, but leave it at that. Do we really want to drag the hobby down, not to mention ourselves ?

i understand your point, BUT, if i were searching an area and all of a sudden i have someone sucking up all halfs from the atea then he is COMPETITION. he doesn't care about you. i don't see him saying "hmmm maybe i should leave some for someone else" he is in your area because he dried his up and now he intends to do the same to your area. he will stay as long as there are finds and when they dwindle down to nothing he moves on to the next area. all these guys are trying to do is show him he's not the only one in that area and that means he stands a much better chance of searching dumps which in turn if he finds enough of them he will move on. he is in it for the money just like me and you. competition only makes it that much harder to realize any profits so with a little sabotage he can be persuaded to move on to greener pastures.

however.....i still cannot condone the marking of coins. eventually he will move on then guess who's gonna be seeing those silver edges and fooling themselves.
