when they drilled the hole they didn't care, a new coin is worth nothing, but add 200 years and things change, it's funny, I have a bunch of rings that have hole, hehe, a little humor

Pants didn't have pockets. back in the day ..sewing your coins into your jacket was how they kept from losing them...pants with pockets came about in the late 1800s..
