There is no set amount it devalues it, but it would be a lot. If you bought from a dealer at a show you probably paid what it is worth . It is still a good way to get a piece of history at a cheap price.

I have a large collection of holed coins from half cents to half dollars... early 1800's to early 1900's.

I prefer to collect them as they allow me to collect coins I otherwise could never have afforded.

I appreciate and agree with your responses. I would not spend the money needed for an older coin, in worse condition. Thanks HH Gayle
