Barber Dine with round stamp in exact center

This is my first barber, but it has a round stamp in the exact center. Anybody know what this is?

Look like somebody hit it with a leather toll maybe trying to put a hole in it.That is
just my guess.A very nice find

I agree. I see lots of coins on the ends of rolls with that exact pattern on them. Makes you wonder why that coin was in a roll anyway......

It could be "parking meter damage" from the old style meters. hh blue

That's a good question and I'm curious to see the answer because I have seen the same thing on foreign coins.

Looks like standard old parking meter damage to me. Exact size and location for it.

I used to work at a bank years ago and had to count and roll coins. The machines were "Brandt" company machines. After auto-counting, they were rolled by being put into the paper coin tubes that were pre crimped on one end, then they were put up to another machine that was basically a motor with an attachment that spun at high speed and crimped the open end. Perhaps the damage on yor coin was caused by such a machine as it was being crimped in a coin roll.
