half dime question

I tried to search the net but couldn't find the answer. I found an 1856 half dime in great shape. I have never seen one before. I notice the obverse and reverse is at 90* instead of 180* to one another. Is this correct?

It could be a mint error or a counterfeit.
How did you come across it?

It is not that uncommon for older coins, the dies would sometimes loosen up in the press and rotate.
