Reales have been around since the mid-1300s. During that time, as you can imagine, Spainish controlled areas have produced many different real(es) coins with many different mint marks. For example, in Mexico at one time or another, over a dozen mints produced coins, each designated by one or more letters.

You may wish to visit your local library and pick up a book on Mexican coin, then study the position and meaning of the mintmarks. A magnifying glass might help to facilitate your efforts in finding the mint marks.
