I would give the 1917 quarter VF20, the 1918 EF45. Unfortunately the rest of the coins have been heavily polished greatly lowering collector value.

The CTRL+scroll is neat, except that it's changing the size of the entire browser, and not just the photos.
So here ya go...

Different pictures may help. The 1913 may be OK or not hard to tell from photos.. The 1923 I think is cleaned, but again could be wrong. The Columbian half is definitely polished, maybe not since you have had it but remember it has been around over 100 years! A hands on look is always best.

can we tell it is polished because we can see black marks around letters and numbers??

Yeah, that is a good indication, the protected areas around the letters were not hit by the cleaning, also the surfaces have an unnatural smoothness and shine that would not be there on a natural worn coin. Compare to the natural surfaces on the standing liberty quarters. The color of the Buffalo nickels appear to be unnaturally bright, perhaps dthey look different in hand though. The lower portion of the reverse of the 1923 also appears to be too "shiny". Nothing can replace a good hands on examination though.
