Yesterday, my moms friend gave me a couple of coins. She gave me: Two German coins (from the '70's and 90's. A clad Ike dollar. A 1968 40% silver half dollar. And, the cream of the crop, an 1808 8 reale Carolus IIII coin. She said she got it in change a while back (She is about 75 years old.) She said it was covered in black stuff, so she got some kitchen cleaner, and wiped it down :o . She doesn't really know a lot about coins, and she said that she has a bunch of Kennedy halves from the 60's that she wants to give to me :hello2: Here's a picture of that 1808 coin.

Few days ago I saw the similar coin 8 spanish reales but dated 1810 (with another king Ferdinand, do not remember his #) being sold for 3,000 roubles (litlle bit less than $100, I also think some discount could be accepted) in flea market in my town. Its grade was about this. I have not seen any suspicious in that coin, it looked like genuine (although I saw such 8R first time), the same I could tell about your coin. May be it really is worth $100, but as for me I am not yet ready to buy such expensive coins (although I have 2 similar later spanish coins 5 pesetas dated 1870s).
