Right you are Don.
The last date of silver 1 peso in Chile was 1940. Then from 1942-1954 they were copper. 1954-1958 they were aluminum.
They didn't mint any more peso as far as I can tell until 1975 when they were made out of copper-nickel.
Yours is worth about $0.10.
