I know the US mint stopped production of the Silver Eagle last year due to lack of available bullion. Has anybody heard any word about production for this year? 2010 that is...

I this is the last year for these I thinking I'm sitting on a nice nest egg

It was only the Proof Silver Eagle that wasn't minted. There were plenty Silver Eagle business strikes minted last year. 2010 silver eagles are available. Hopefully, they will resume production of the Proof, but we won't know until later this year. I get a roll every year at the FUN convention. This is the first show of the year, and consequently the first allotment from the mint. Always, nice to see the first strikes.

2009 Silver Eagle Mintages:
Bullion Mintage: 28,766,500 (sold during calendar year, mintage may differ)
Proof Mintage: not minted
Uncirculated (Burnished) Mintage: not minted

The 2010 Silver Eagle was first available as a bullion coin on January 19, 2010. The status of the 2010 Proof Silver Eagle and 2010-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle will remain contingent upon the US Mint's ability to meet the full public demand for the bullion coins.
