Now Android phone users can identify US Coins while in the field using the U.S. Coin Identifier v1.01 Application. The first version is free, and will be available on itunes for iphones within the next two weeks. The complete version will be ready in the next few weeks, and it will have the mintages, values, specifications, facts, photograding pages, precious metal spot, etc. for every coin series. To see what it will offer, just visit the Morgan Dollar in the v1.01 version by clicking this link. http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-mdurante-coinhelp-FzEp.aspx

The free version also has precious metal spot values. I hope you all enjoy this app, it's a dream come true for me. I know a lot about coins, but now I don't have to second guess myself on certain dates and mint marks and how much they are worth when I'm at the flea market, coin show, garage sale or metal detecting, and I can see the exact silver spot. I made this for me and a friend, but we have had 199 downloads in less than two weeks, so I guess others like it also.

I will likely get this app if I end up getting that HTC Evo 4G that Sprint has coming out tomorrow... or another Andriod phone down the line. We'll see... looks like a neat app though!

PCGS also has a great program for the Iphone. Has detailed pictures of different grades on each coin.

But not one for android, and not one designed by a metal detecting enthusiast like myself. PCGS is like Wal-Mart, they want all of the apples, but we have a right to a few ourselves. From a guy that submits coins to PCGS because he has to. :-\

Already done and submitted to Apple, just waiting for their approval.

We are working on a more detailed version that will list the keys along with varieties to look for. We provided an example of what this advanced app will be like in the Morgan Dollar selection on this first version. It even has a grading guide, mintages, and values for the Morgan Dollar. Thanks for the input.
