I recently aquired a small box of foreign coins. I have picked out what I think are the silvers but its hard to find out for sure and what % silver might be in them. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I can only speak to the Swiss coins, as I own examples of them. They are mostly silver, but I've forgotten how much. You should be able to type in the obverse and denomination, and find out exact composition online.

1950 Swiss 1/2 Fr. 83.5% silver- 0.0671

1936 British 1 Flourin 50% silver- 0.1818

Usually a quick check by weight and if it's near pure hold between thumb and another fingernails and tap.

It makes a distinct tone.Try it with a Morgan dollar or american eagle. :icon_thumleft:
