Silver and nickel ???
Hi
Newbe here I have a ?? What year did silver stop being put
Into coins and what year did they quit putting nickel in 5 cent piece
Digging through some older change dont know what years to keep

Last year for 90% silver was 1964. Half dollars were 40% from 65-70. Nickels are still made of nickel.

Is your question about nickels "which years had silver content?" - then the answer is 1942-45 and they have the large P/D/S mintmark over the dome on the reverse.
And, the Mint still makes silver coins in proof sets - S mintmark - and they sometimes get loose in the wild.

Simply excellent....probably a young kid just getting into coin collecting, found our web-site, introduces himself, has a few questions ..........and now will probably never come back.......bet your family is so proud of you.
