I'm new to CRH. My brother has mentioned that this one guy did not find a single silver half dollar whether it was 90% or 40% silver after searching through 47 boxes. I have 5 90% silver Kennedy half dollars to begin my coin collecting. I want to know if having 5 silver half dollars is rare or common to people because I'm not sure yet.

Pretty common having 5 90%'s. That's very unusual for somebody to go through 47 boxes though and not find anything :icon_scratch: Heck I've found silver halfs in just one roll that I got from a teller. Good Luck

You have to start somewhere and 5 is better than none. Keep at it and realize that it is only a hobby. If you don't enjoy the process, then there is no sense in doing it.

Five 90% is an pretty nice box. I'm on my third box and I've gotten zero silver (and just one NIFC). The only silver halves I've found were four 40% in $26 worth of loose I found at one bank.

Well..its different for all, Ive had 5 straight skunk boxes...and ive read for some to have 15-20 boxes with nothing..its all chance..
I personally dont expect Silver in every box or roll I get...

Yeh, I've found a few halves, but in the ground with a detector, not by searching bags of coins.. What are the boxes you are discussing? Do coins come in boxes now?

I must live in a cave, because I've NEVER seen a BOX of coins, only bags and rolls...
