Dohhhhh "unsearched" coins

Saw an auction for "un-searched V nickels", I should have just ignored it...but I couldn't resist. It was for 8 nickels, then I thought...wait how can they be un-searched if their gonna come in holders? >,<. Oh well lesson learned hehe, at least I got them for about $4.50 each. Plus suppose there is a chance there will be a nice surprise in there :laughing9: . (slim chance though xD) Anyone else ever fall for those "un-searched" auctions? >.>

I can tell you how "unsearched" coin eBay ads are both true, and untrue. The ad is run, selling "unsearched" coins. The truth is that the eBay seller does not personally search the coins. The "untruth" (or more of an omission) is that he has a partner(s) search the coins prior to running the sales ads.

So the eBay seller can truthfully say, "I did not search the coins."

He does not tell you that they were searched by someone else.

"unsearched" translates to "I did not search them but i removed every key date, key mint mark and high grade coin before i decided to sell them to you" :icon_pirat:

Re: Dohhhhh "unsearched" coins

As kids, my brother and I bought a box of "unsearched" wheat cents ($20 face for $30 plus S&H) from some coin collecting magazine. Turns out, they were really unsearched because there were a couple 1909 VDB in OK condition, a few Indian heads and some other decent stuff.

i meant like this: recently i bought 34Kg of coins by one philatelist.. many key dates...reason is simple- they are not numismatists.
