Set Of Morgan Dollars Value Please

Went to an auction today and I bought a set of Morgans containing three books from 1878 through 1921 and it's only missing 13 coins from a possible 98 coins. I know the melt value is $2385.00 but what would the collection be worth? Any thoughts please. O! the coins are in VF condition plus. Thanks, Charlie

Look for ones with "CC" mint marks underneath the eagle. Those would be Carson City Morgans and they would be the jewels of that collection.

It all depends on what 13 coins are missing, and the condition of the individual coins. You will have to grade each coin and check the value of each.

Actually, there were about 120 + or - different Morgans minted though your 'three books' may have die cuts for only 98. I'll echo what has been mentioned above: Without first seeing close up pics (obverse and reverse) of each coin (to determine a more precise grade), giving you an estimate of your collection's value would only be speculative.
