beat up quarter or strike error?

I got this in pocket change today. I've never seen such a beat up quarter. I was wondering if it might be some sort of error or if I should just spend it.

I don't know if you should spend it. That's the only quarter just like it in the world.

It was dropped in a driveway and ran over many times. I have seen graveled coins a few times.
