Re: WHAT TO DO
Into Google, type: Wheat cent DDO (Doubled Die Obverse); Wheat cent DDR (Doubled Die Reverse). If you search for the photos of these on Google, you should shortly find out what you need to be looking for.
The 1909 S Wheat Cent is well worth you search time. But don't pass up the 11D, 12S, 22D, 24D, and almost any Wheat Cent in Almost Uncirculated or better condition.

You may be able to get $1-$2 per roll for common date wheats.

Re: WHAT TO DO
How did you acquire the pennies? From your grandpa or some dude on the street? The reason I'm asking is because if you got them from someone you don't know chances are they've been gone through already.

Re: WHAT TO DO
I have sold large lots on ebay and it seems like big lots bring more, don't know why but they just do. I have gotten as much as 8 cents each for common date wheats in large lots

Re: WHAT TO DO
Condition is key. If you dug them, most will have "environmental damage", and be worth considerably less.
But if you bought them or had them "handed down" you may well have some great keepers.
Copper keeps going up, so don't give 'em away. OTOH, if there's a good market nearby for your wheaties, look into it. Large lots at 8c each seem fair to me.
Fees on Ebay make large lots more lucrative for both buyers and sellers. Just a hint.

Re: WHAT TO DO
If you decide to sell by the roll, I'll buy a roll or two. PM me if so.
