If it's a 71, then it's a clad kennedy. It might have been dipped for some reason, maybe it was somebody's "lucky coin" at one time or another. It's not gonna be worth much more than .50 cents. They used to re-dip the steelies from 43. I would say "catch and release" for this coin.

There are thousands, perhaps millions, of plated halves out there. Many were sold in the 1970's as novelty. I've personally found dozens of gold-plated halves, a couple chromed.
I've also found chrome-plated silver dimes, and gold-plated clad dimes, chrome-plated canadian coins, etc, etc.
I used to keep them, now I just toss 'em back to the wild.
