Its a toss up for me between the draped bust and the capped bust.

The most beautiful is difficult to define as there are just too many to single one out. However, any conversation of most beautiful silver coins isn't complete unless the Gothic Crown is included.

I would agree with your post, except for the Queen Jadwiga. I am Polish and think that that is possibly the most or one of the most beautiful Polish coins, but not the most beautiful in the world.

I would agree with your post, except for the Queen Jadwiga. I am Polish and think that that is possibly the most or one of the most beautiful Polish coins, but not the most beautiful in the world.

I like the design, but what I like even more is that the design is readily available in mint state for cheap. An AU or MS example isn't going to cost you much more than $30-40 for the lower denominations. On the other hand, any Gothic Crown is going to run $2,500-3,500 depending on condition, a high grade Gothic Florin is going to run you $250-300, an Athenian Tetradrachm in decent enough condition runs anywhere from $200-$2,000 depending on type and style, and even locating a similar drachm such as the one I posted is hard enough! There are lots of examples of ancient coins where one type is horrendous but the same denomination or type is very pleasing to the eye because they were engraved by different people or were preserved in different conditions or had a better strike.

The reason for the price is that it was a fairly modern circ coin. The Gothic florin and crown were NIFC. The Greeks were in circ (think so), but were used over 2,000 yrs. ago.
