Question on a 10 Pfennig (1950)

I found it today. It's in pretty rough shape but, it's my first foriegn(German) coin! My question is how common are they in the U.S.? From what I've read, they made alot of them in 1950. I found it in New York State. Thanks

If you found it metal detecting, it is still not common. However, I have even found some in circulation about a year ago. If you got it from someone, than it is very common. For example, I have about 10-15 of those from different collections I bought. I believe the mintage is because it was the first year of mintage under the Deutsche Bundesbank.

I actually found it while walleye fishing, in a spot that has produced coins for me. It was a surface find. The ground is still frozen but, the first inch of dirt was loose. I scratched around for 2-3 minutes and found it along with an old nickel. I didn't have the MD with me but, when the ground thaws I'll be back there.
