I agree with sagittarius98.It's acid dipped or some other highly corrosive chemical that was introduced to your dime .The core of a dime is pure copper with an outer layer of nickel bonded to the core.Copper is a much softer metal so the reaction to acid happens with the copper first.Sorry but it's PMD
