You have an 1883 Seated Liberty coin. Measure it up against a modern dime, quarter, etc. That will tell you which denomination of coin it is.

Further, your coin has been turned into a love-token. A love token was a popular way of personalizing a common coin into a personal charm or good luck piece. Yours has initials carved into as it's central theme, potentially "ACP"?

Thank-you so much. Does that hurt the value of it?

Actually, it would probably HELP the value a little, as 1883 is not a low mintage year for seated anything. People do collect love tokens. However, I would think it is probably worth more to you and your descendants as a family heirloom.

Here is an auction for an 1883 dime:
1883 Seated Liberty Silver Dime VF | eBay

and here is one for a love token:
Love Token 1883 Seated Liberty Silver Dime Engraved R H P (B60) | eBay

For $25, I think you should keep it, and tell people about your great gramma.
