I have had these for a long time. I believe I got them at an auction in a box of stuff. I remember they were wrapped up in a piece of cloth and just down in the bottom and looked more like trash than anything actually being in there. I put them away and forgot about them until I found this website. Do you know anything about them. I looked online and found where only 55 of the copper 1 cent pieces were made and none of the 5$ pieces but the picture it had looked exactly like the one that I have here. I'm going to put them in my safety deposit box today until I can figure out what they are. Thanks for any info that you may have.

Take them to a reputable person, but I'd be willing to bet they're counterfeit. But you never know... you may have just hit the lottery... literally.

I'm trying to find someone to take them to. I don't hold much hope in them being real but you just never know.

Pictures should clear it up quickly, but they are most likely replica or fantasy pieces. There were never any Confederate $5 coins so that one is definitely not genuine, and the fake one cent pieces far outnumber the "originals" or the restrikes.

Yeah, those are the cheap "souvenir" type replicas.

I expected that to be the case but it never hurts to ask someone that knows.

The CSA only made one cent and 50cent coins; never a $5 coin IMO.
And those cent and 50 cent coins are extremely rare and valuable.
As I mentioned elsewhere, your one cent is a replica and the $5 coin is a fantasy coin.
Don....
