Today i made a sizable purchase from my LCS and i asked for walkers and bens like usual and the owner laughed and asked if i resold them but i just told him i like to collect them also and try to get as many different and early dates as possible because 64 kennedys get kinda old quick.

When i went through them at the car i noticed this weird coin and almost went back down because i wasnt sure of it was silver. It was a 1893 columbus half dollar minted in chicago.

I really love this coin and is mu favorite already. It is pretty worn but still very good shape.

Just thought i would share thanks!

I picked one of those up after failing to get one from many a auction. Got mine in AU if I recall correctly. Such a nice coin. I would like a roll of them someday.

Awesome buy! I was told it was the first commemorative coin made in the USA, but when double checking found this:

"Many consider the 1848 2½ dollar gold piece counter stamped "CAL" to be the first U.S. commemorative coin, as it commemorated the finding of gold in California.
Most standard lists begin with the 1892 half dollar commemorating the 400th anniversary of Columbus' voyage to America."

I was lucky enough to get one of my own from a collection I was given as a gift.
