:dontknow: I would need to see a Pic for what I'm thinking of for sure.

Can you easily carry it ? if you can, My suggestion would be to find a hard surface & Tap it from all angles
with a hammer & see how much you can get to fall off first, to confirm it's worth your time.
Once you got most off, maybe electrolysis (see our cleaning section)

only other thing perhaps light acid, But I would wait on someone else's opinion before that decision :laughing7:
not only could it be dangerous, it could ruin the silver surface for all I know :tongue3:

gas will remove it just do so in well vented area

Yes, I can carry it and have knocked off as much of the asphalt that I can. I can see a little of the coin.

If you can tell it's not a key date and just junk silver, just try to scrub it, you won't remove too much of the silver and there's no difference what condition a coin is in if it's a junk silver coin.

Thanks, but there' about 1/8 of an inch of asphalt stuck to the coin. cant I'd it yet.

Gas or WD-40 will remove tar. I don't think you can do any additional damage to the coin that hasn't already been done. I say scrub away with an old t-shirt and gasoline.
