What could this POSSIBLY have been from?

A few months ago I was lookin through some cents, and I found this guy. It's worn down pretty flat on both sides. It couldn't have been an ender on both sides because it doesn't look like it's scratched at all! I did the old flick test and it sounds like it's copper, so it's from either 80, 81, or 82. What do you think caused this? There's no damage to most of the field on the obverse. Any ideas what this is? THANKS!!!

My best guess would be PMD (Post Mint Damage) due to manilulation by man! It appears that the coin was compressed in a Vice between two pieces of metal.

Idle hands do the Devil's work! Someone with too much time on their hands and they were bored. Since you found it in circulation or the ground, the reason was apparently not for monetary gain.
