New Error Found On THE Washington Dollar Missing "E" On George

I have been seeing much about the new Washington Dollars so I went to the bank and bought 4 rolls. Out of them I had no smooth edges but I do have 52 upside printings and one with an error not announced yet. The E on the word George is gone. You can see where it was misstruck and the E is pressed flat and basically missing. I am gonna watch and see if anymore of these pop up. Here is a pic.

See ya, Twister

that the errors are so common its hard to
get a coin that is without one ;D :D ;)

First one on e-bay with a new error seems to get high dollar.

These coins are really crappy. A guy I know has been carrying one around for two weeks and it's almost AU by now. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mint made these 'errors' deliberately so that there would be interest in the program.

According to this week's issue of Numismatic News many of the new dollar coins DO NOT have lettered edges and are currently being purchased for $50 by dealers expecting a price rise. exanimo, siegfried schalgrule

Re: New Error Found On THE Washington Dollar Missing "E" On George

That first picture is the result of grease in the die if I am not mistaken. I found a Statehood quarter like that but missing more. Also found out they were about the most common "error" found and not worth a whole lot (such is my luck). Also, there is no such thing as an error coin where the edge lettering is "upside down", the coins, after being struck on the obverse and reverse sides are fed randomly through the next machine to get the edge lettering done.
