Hi everyone. I have run across these three pennies while CRH and I'm not sure what is the cause of their appearance.
They have no rim except a very very little on part of the 2009.
The 08 and 09 actually look pretty neat in person.
i was not able to capture the tones as they are. My lighting blew it all out.
They have nice dark tone with burgundy in areas.
Is it just because they were lightly struck, a plating issue or both?

Damaged somehow.

I agree! It is Post Mint damage, probably from not just the environment or situation where they have been but possibly from some manipulation by man. It doesn't really take a lot to damage a Copper plated Zinc Cent but these have had a hard life!

Yup, the '95 especially. I bet if you put a micrometer in it you'll find it bigger in diameter due to being flattened somehow.
