Wow... that was the first coin I ever bought! It was in 1977 when I was 18 years old. It spawned 25 years of buying and selling coins. I had my own coin store for 20 of those years. Thanks for the memory :)

That's probably one of the first ones I had bought as well. I love the design on them. Also there's a 1925 with a cowboy and horse on it that I buy anytime I can find them around $20 !

That was my first commem too!! I sold to a few years ago to fund the purchase of an Oregon Trail Half Dollar.

My head is spinning by your historical slight. Your characterization of a cowboy and horse are surely made in jest. The alternative is hard to fathom. The "cowboy" you alluded to is none other than General Robert E. Lee consulting with Stonewall Jackson. The proceeds of the commemorative were to fund the Stone Mountain Memorial outside of Atlanta, GA.
