I finally found my first 1974 D DDO Half Dollar after just under a year of searching specifically for it. You will see why it is bittersweet, however. This is a prominent mark of a coin roll hunter in Kalamazoo. He seems to hunt a lot of CWR as when I find his marks it is always a whole roll or a load from a teller tray. Well, he missed this I guess but, jeez, what a bummer. Oh well, enjoy the pics.

Rub it with an alcohol wipe. After a few seconds it will come right off.

Thanks guys. I will give it a shot.

I was surprised to see how visible the doubling was without a loupe. The "R" was very evident right away.

That is a great find! I also agree that Acetone should take the paint off and may even clean up some or all of dirt or debris on the coin! Just be careful with what you use if you rub the area(s) as a cloth and sometimes even a Q-Tip can leave small scratches on the surface of the coin. I have found that a freshly washed fingertip can do just as well and will not scratch the surface of the coin unless the fingertip has calluses or other roughness from hard work. If you try a fingertip, just make sure you wash any Acetone off your' finger quickly because it can sometimes irritate the skin.
