This is a 1991 D with some doubling on the two 9s and the D possible. Doubling on top of his head. What do you think about this coin? What is the value on a coin like this? Also, did I discover a new DD variety? Because I haven't found any information about the DD on this 1991 D minted penny.

Sorry, I added this one by mistake but you can clearly see doubling on top of his head posted above.

Sorry, but that is a plating issue. Not a "doubled" die.

This coin has off center strike, but that's not what has my attention.

I'm not talking about that. The plating was "pushed" over when the coin was minted. You see this alot on plated coins. It's not doubling, sorry.

Also I would need to see the reverse to verify if it's an off center strike. May just be a misaligned die.

I can see the doubling you are talking about on the head and date, but can't tell if it is a DD or machine doubling. The expert on these is Wexler, and he has a website. You can send a coin in to be verified for I think $4 for one side, or $5 for both, must be in a plastic or vinyl holder, and you have to include money for return postage, same as you pay at the PO to send, included with your check. Full details at his site. I hope you found a good one! Cheers!!

Save your money. I'm not trying to be negative about your coin, it's just not a doubled die. This is common on modern cents. Maybe Frank will show up soon and put his two cents in. Between he and I you will have your answer.

I agree totally with you on this one enamel! Also, the coin was struck partially outside of the Collar which resulted in the off-centering and the railroad rims that can be seen Southeast through Southwest of the Date and Mint Mark.

In my opinion Frank this is common on smaller coins thus its not extreme enough to warrant a significant premium. Can you post pics of the very edge of the rims so we can verify if the rim is actually "rail roaded".

Example:

You are correct, these generally have very little value over face! However, if you can find a Collector of Partial Collar Strikes, then they might pay a premium for any and all that you have and especially Uncirculated Red or Red/Brown specmens.
