I was putting this up for a friend who believes this is a 1916 D. To be honest I don't see anything other than a 1916... Am I right or is there something invisible I don't see?

Although there is a lot of wear that can totally obliterate the Mint mark, I don't see any evidence of a Mint mark in the area where it should be!

I agree with huntsman..
Your friend may be confusing the D in DIME.. for the mint mark... unfortunately that's not it.

I see what looks like altered edge wear and no mint mark

Thanks, I bought the book without the "D" dime. I didn't think it looked good either. But a 2nd opinion is always helpful.

If you compare yours to this one, it's pretty easy to see where the D should be. It should be pretty even with the leaf to the left. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1433038304.657687.jpg

Well looking at that picture it's pretty obvious that when I had was not the real deal. Thank you all very much for your time!!
