Looks like possible combination of struck thru grease and a hit.

Thanks. Instead of spelling Liberty the original way, it looks to be spelled "iiberty" with a lowercase "I". Lol:laughing7:

I can't really tell if there was a hit but it was definitely struck through grease and/or debris was clogging portions of the "L" on the Die.

Thanks Frank. I'm steady hunting to find a Gem in the hay stack. My goal is to find me a 1992 Close AM or a 1999 Wide AM. So the hunt is still on.

Thanks Frank. I'm steady hunting to find a Gem in the hay stack. My goal is to find me a 1992 Close AM or a 1999 Wide AM. So the hunt is still on.

I have never found any of the 1992-P or 1992-D "Close AM" Lincoln Cents. My memory is getting bad but I have found and sold three or four 1999 Proof Sets with the "Close AM" Cents in them, one or two Business (Circulation) Strike 1999-P "Wide AM" Cents and a dozen or more each of the Business Strike 1998-P and 2000-P "Wide AM" Cents. I picked up two of the 1999 Proof Sets with the "Close AM" Cents in them in a 6 Proof Set purchase that I got for $65 at a Pawn Shop some 10 or more years ago. I sold one of the 1999 Proof Sets for $350 and trade the other one for around $300 worth of collectible coins and still got $50 for the other 4 remaining common (high mintage) Proof Sets. These Variety Coins are getting harder and harder to find with every passing day but there are some still out there. I would recommend staying away from so-called OBW Rolls of Cents sold on eBay as most have been searched and re-rolled but you might stumble across a 1999 Proof Set with a "Close AM" Cent in it, if the Seller has good pictures, the Proof Set in the pics is the actual one up for auction and no one else is aware that the Cent is a 'Close AM" Variety. Estate Auctions with coins might be the best place to score some truly unsearched Cent rolls and Proof Sets and on occasion at a Pawn Shop or from a really old Coin Dealer or cashed in rolls at a Bank.

Good luck!

Contributing to the coins various flaws, I believe it might have been a thin planchet or just a terrible strike/worn out die, as, the lettering all around the coin is weak and blurring into the fields. I.E. the first E in ONE on the reverse, the In God We Trust on the obverse, the United States of America, and the memorial steps.
