It would probably grade VF-EF details, Scratches, if sent for grading, which would be equal to a value for good condition to fine condition.

I was just saying that to give you an idea, but if it is truly a 7 over 6 as you said, it might be worth it. The value for good condition is $1,800, the value for very good is $2,500, and the value for fine is $3,250. On the other hand, if it is just an 1847, the value for good condition is $42, the value for very good is $50, and the value for fine is $65. Remember, these are retail prices. 99.9999% of the time you will never get these prices if in those conditions, and if you do, you would still probably have either overhead or a seller's fee.

Thanks for your input. Here is a closeup.

I'd grade it in the XF45-AU50 range without the scratches. It won't grade at PCGS or NGC with that damage unfortunately.

According to the photos it looks like you have the real thing. Even if it's not (which I'm pretty sure it is), it's definitely worth paying the $50 or so to have it officially graded. Worst case, you're out $50. Best case, you have a genuine coin worth $2000 or possibly more depending on what someone will give for it.

This is an online photo of an 1867/6. Then, your photo. And what it's worth according to PCGS in good+ condition.

You are wrong. It is a genuine coin regardless of it being slabbed or raw.

The overdate is clear as day. The person willing to shell out $2000 for this coin does not need a piece of plastic and printed info card to point that out to them.
