My job allows me to pick through a consistent flow of coins, so pardon my frequent posts! This 46 Jefferson Immediately caught my eye yesterday in a large pile of nickels. my first assumption was that the markings are post mint until I checked the reverse and saw (very faint) identical markings. They almost look like red tented striations. It's probably nothing, but the feedback from these posts bring things to light that surfing the web Doesn't.

Could be any number of things, but if I had to guess I would say either environmental damage or improperly mixed alloy.
