What would make this perfect circle on a coin?

Plucked a coin while detecting on a beach on Saturday. As I was recording my finds today I became curious about what would make a perfect circle on one of them. I swear I've seen this on other coins and I'm betting someone on here knows. Is this from a vending machine or something?

Edit: now that I'm really looking at it, there is a weird "comet" like tail under the 'beth' too.

Most likely a pendant bezel.

Most likely it was the end coin in a machine wrapped roll and the crimping machine scratched it. I see those all the time at the ends of rolls.

Sorry, but I don't know what scratches you're seeing. It was in a bezel at one time.
