I'm familiar with there being three varieties of the 1968 ten cent piece, but none (to my knowledge) are in .800 silver; through one contains .500 silver; the other two are composed of nickel. If the mint reeding has flat deep areas in the edge reeding (as opposed to pointed deep areas in the edge reeding) that coin was minted in Philadelphia and is composed of nickle. But if the coin has pointed deep areas in the edge reeding it could be either composed of nickle or .500 silver; both minted in Ottawa. Not much difference in the value (silver or nickel) but I can easily understand the desire to learn what is its composition.

If you're trying to determine whether it's silver or nickel, you can do it by weight......assuming you have a decent digital scale. 2.333 grams for silver.....2.073 for nickel.

Or if its made of nickel it will stick to a magnet..any magnet will do. if not then it has silver.
