1st - Welcome Aboard muzoasly! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - You posted it an hour ago - it is still very very very early in the US - give it a little more time. :laughing7:

Welcome to TNET muzoasly!

I am not an expert on and not that familiar with Roman or other ancient coins but I do know coins and know what the appearance of genuine coins should be. I am sorry but in my honest opinion, the coins that you posted photos of, have the appearance of reproductions made to sell to unknowing tourists!

Agreed, even if they've been heavily cleaned and buffed, they look to be cast reproductions.

Others have already made observations about possibly cast coins and not genuine but to answer the question for the OP.

“ If real these Antoninianus Roman coins of GALLIENUS, CLAUDIUS II GOTHICUS and SALONINA they are common coins and in the Reference Book SEARS Vol III range in BOOK price as follows:

FORTVNA REDVX types VF $12 to EF $45
AEQVITAS AVG, IVNO REGINA, GENIO AVG, VIRTVS AVG, types VF $15 to EF $40
FIDES AVG, LVNA LVCIF, VENVS AVG, VIRTVS AVGVSTI, types VF $18 to EF $55
CONSER AVG types VF $20 to EF $55
AETERNITAS AVG types VF $25 to EF $75

In terms of a MARKETABLE price being received for GENUINE coins that is likely (in UK) to range from VF $2 to EF $20 per coin.

You better watch out Muzoasly... if the state catches you stealing THEIR antiquities, you might be metal detecting with one hand!

Yes, leave those coins in their original condition if you can. Wash the dirt off, but, that's about it, if you plan on selling them. By cleaning them, you've reduced their value and limited the number of buyers who would be interested in them.
