At a house today and looking through some coins a guy pulls out some large cent coin's. Average wear except for this one looks like it has five numbers for the date. What do you think?

By the way if anybody is in the Southwest Florida area may want to search nickels. This guy just dumped $200 face of buffalo nickels at different banks just for fun. And he has a whole bunch more that I looked through but really wasn't interested in either they had no dates or they were in the 20s- 30s. But he's planning on dumping those as well. He said collectors enjoy finding them. Ok. [emoji16]

Hi Beachkid; There were a lot of Over trikes from 1844 - 1851. I believe yours is an 1848/7 Variety in VF Condition. Value = $20. Enjoy it. PEACE:RONB

I am not sure what is going on there, if there is die damage or just damage to the coin.

Well so much for retirement. I guess when I go back to get the rest of it hopefully there's no more of these. Lol.

Yeah, I'm not seeing an overdate. He's referring to the fact it looks like 5 numbers. That's just damage.

No. I was seriously asking.

BK... Pay no mind to some comments! Anyone not familiar with coins, coin series, errors, varieties and what constitutes damage (PMD) on coins, would likely ask the same question as the damage to Star and the lower curls in Miss Liberty's hair along with the damage between these as well as the wear on the coin, make it appear that there is a "7" to the right of the Date.
