I need some help on this 1982 P Penny. I just went through a couple of bank rolls and discovered this one. I weighed it on my scale and it weighed 2.5 grams. I know one sold for quite a bit of money. I'm trying too see if I have one here or not. Hard for me to tell. But I have a lot of 1982's. The other ones weigh 3.1 grams. This is the first one I have that weighs 2.5 grams. Please give me some advice on this. Thanks.

1982 was a transition year for the Lincoln. During that year, the cent changed from a solid .950 copper, .050 zinc alloy, weighing 3.11 grams, to a .992 zinc, .008 copper alloy core with a .999 copper plating, weighing 2.5 grams.

Time for more coffee.

The 1982-D "Small Date" Copper is the one to look out for as they never intended to Mint/Strike any "Small Date" Copper Cents at Denver that year but accidentally did so.

By the way, your' 1982-P Lincoln Cent is a "Large Date" Variety.
