I found this old Roman coin a few years ago and have always wondered if it is real or a fake. I found it in the middle of a large field away from everything else. The only other thing I found there was a shield nickel from the 1860’s. Any help will be appreciated. 006198C8-9FC5-4D68-ABB0-AC944574792A.jpeg 6E2E31AA-FF0E-4549-B3AD-26A237BE1A38.jpeg

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Kansas for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

This actually looks like a GREEK C4th BC 30mm bronze Litra or Diobol of LUCANIA, THURIUM type with:

Obverse: ATHENA bust right with Skylla hurling stone of Helmet
Reverse: BULL butting right with dolphin in exergue.

A picture link of an actual ancient coin example is below:

With no experience in these cannot say whether original or a copy but appears highly likely to be the later due to its construction & corrosion style.

Above is Cru'dad's thoughts.
