error dime?

I found a 1997 that may be an error. The rim is higher and deeper than normal and on the reverse the rim seems double, might be an extra strike?

Definitely not worth having slabbed! Might be a high pressure strike, nothing to add any value.

At first I thought out of collar but the reeding is there, I agree probably off-center. Will ask my coin dealer when I stop by there today or tomorrow, now that I am retired I spend more time there working on my collection and chit chatting.

I am working on GSA hard and soft packs, have the CC's except the pricey ones and a few soft packs and 3 non-CC hard packs.

With Lincoln cents, if only one side is out of alignment, that would be misaligned dies (not "off an center strike" where both obv and rev are out of alignment). Off center is usually more desirable.
Wouldn't the same be true for dimes?

Looks like a slightly thicker planchet to me.

It's a mild broadstrike. The blank wasn't sitting properly in the collar and when it was hit by the dies, it was knocked into the collar so it came out a bit wonky around the edges. Extremely common with Dimes. Probably not enough of an error for it to hold numismatic value.

Yes dejapooh, my dealer said this is very common with modern dimes. Still interesting anyway
