It's winter, and I'm bored...

I know for certain that a bag of $20 gold double eagles from the mint contained 250 coins, or $5000 face value, and weighed 22.5 lbs.

I'm guessing the other gold denominations were multiples, as in $10 eagles with 500 coins, $5 half eagle with 1000 coins and $2 1/2 quarter eagle with 2000 coins. All with $5000 face value and all weighing 22.5 lbs. This is just a guess.

What about the pre-'65 silver coins? How many in a bag and what did they weigh? Gary

I don't think the limiting factor is by WEIGHT, but rather by exact FACE VALUE Quantity Count.

I figured the gold was all $5000 face but wasn't sure about the silver. I guess no one has any mint bags laying around that can tell me.:weather_snow: Gary

I think most of us here have a life. At least we are not laying around eating potato chips watching some stupid TV show. Coins and metal detecting help me keep my brain active. Or even worse being in politics and screwing up a lot of people's lives.
But teens will always look at their parent's hobbies as being weird. That is just the way it is.
