You know I'm new at looking for error and variety coins.
I'd really appreciate some opinions on this 1965 Quarter.
There are two vertical lines on each side of the 5.
Just to the left of the five and running through the top part of the 5 is a letter S.. I think.
The coin looks separated at the bottom of the Bust.
Below the 6 on the rim appears to be a miniature 6 or lettering.
I took pics in both 16:9 and 4:3
For phone and wide-screen users.
The zoom is my phone camera with my 20x loupe attached over the lens.
I used capture+ for the overlays.

The bottom of the bust appears to be a die crack. The rest is what's known as "pariedola".

I agree with the Die Crack but the "S" and the lines surrounding the "5" in the Date appear to be image transference from something that the coin came in contact with. It has the appearance of no toning where the "S" image and the lines are with minor toning outside of that, sort of like when someone tapes over a coin to keep it in an album or secure on a display and it is left there for a long time. Once removed, the coin's surfaces where the tape was is all bright and shiny while where there was no tape, the surfaces are toned and sometimes ugly.

Pariedola.
Your images (and my eyes) are actually a pretty good example of it. The areas next the 6 looked like "S", "6", and then an "8" in your images. At least that is what I am seeing. Same area, different angles or lighting on circulated coins and bingo, there it is.

Yep.
Old Confucius saying.. The faster thee eye is moving, the fewer things it shall see.
The same function applies to moving your eyes too slowly and letting your eyes and mind see what they want to see.
Placebo effect!
Apply that Saying to rock hounding and you'll enjoy the success that I have.
Have a great day!
