Maybe it was an escapee from a Wealthy Max Ltd. shipment to the US Mints Mutilated Coin program.

I remember reading about this scam by recycling companies who were turning in more half dollars at one point than were produced by the mint. If I remember correctly, the claim was that the millions of dollars of coins came from recycled and crushed automobiles. Really?

They aren't being counterfeited. These are either play money or tokens.
