San Francisco minted regular proofs and silver proofs for every state. For VA, the mintage was around 4M and 1M, respectively.
Wow, and these were put in circulation? Or someone was dumb and spent it as a quarter from dads collection?

Man I did that as a kid. Space invaders just came out and all the kids in the neighborhood crowded around that game all day. It was quite the event. I had to come up with some money so I cut up Gmas packaged coins, they sure were shiny and cashed them in for change. Not the quarter of course. These were all early silver proofs. Who knew?
