Anyone know of websites that chart a coins value history like they do with stocks. 5 year
10 year etc. I have seen a few charts in books, but would like to find a web site where I plug in 1910 $2.50 Indian head gold coin and it gives me charts of historical prices. Might as well through in certification numbers and minted numbers as well. I realize that it could not be exact as the stock market. I imagine someone could do it for certified coins from something like the 5 major acution houses (and ebay) or what ever. Just would be nice.

This page will leads you to The CDN family of publications, a series of books graphing historic coin prices: These books provide a visual record of the Bid levels for the most popular Greysheet series, from 1980 to 2006-2007.

The book covering "$2.50s" is 26 pages in length and cost about $20. Though not specifically an online service, it will answer your Q about the trend since 1980.

Heritage Auction Galleries will let you see what prices were realized for the coins they have sold.

You need a login to get the archived data, but it is free to sign up. Then you just need to search for the specific coin in the specific grade. The only thing is you have to go look at each one in the results to see if it has any problems (cleaned, damaged, ...) to determine if it sold at a discount due to its problem.
