A childhood friend of hubby's talked about these coins he had that his grandma saved and when she passed, these coins were given to him. He even, at one time, so he says...and I have never known him to lie...had a 20 dollar gold piece. He said he spent it years ago, not knowning what he had, he was a kid then. This friend however, could really care less about these coins, not the way you or I or anyone else on this forum may feel about them...

Well, a couple of nights ago, while I was resting on the couch after taking my antibotics in my ear...had a very bad ear infection...OMG...I really thought it was my time...the pain was horrible, anywhohow....he brings these coins over and hubby wakes me, jingling these baggies in front of my face saying, "Honey, look what Jules brought over!"...well, of course, I saw how he had them in these baggies, getting all banged up...I had to do something...pulled out my coin holders and that trusty magnifer and well...the rest is history.

I will post several pics...I hope they are not too large, but clear enough for you to see. Had it been daylight out, I would have taken the pics in the sunlight...so I'm sorry if some of these pics don't show these coins the justice they deserve!!!

Thanks for viewing....oh, he said his mother has a shoebox full of coins and we are waiting for him to bring that over...also, a young kid I work with...his grandmother has saved up so much change...I am waiting for him to bring in a big jar of coins and 2 piggy banks full of coins to go through them...he said they are old coins...but mind you...this youngin' is only 18 and a coin from 1970 is OLD TO HIM!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!! When he shows me those, I will go through them and then post his wonderful finds that grandma has stuffed in her closet!!

Until then, hope you enjoy Jules' coins....(still debating about beating him over the head with a wet noodle for spending that 20 dollar gold piece!!)

my granny's coins got swiped by some body when she passed away -- they were supposed to be divided by the various family members but someone was fast on the draw and raided them -- if the family found out who did it would be in deep doo doo --- Ivan

I bought those coin holders at the coin shop....I got a bundle of 100 for $3.00. You can ask for a bundle of quarter holders, dime holders, etc....check with your local coin shop. You can also find them at some hobby shops too...but you will pay more for less.

Yeah, they were very clean....told him that you can't have them in baggies rubbing against each other...so that's why I put them in holders for him.

Check that 1900-O Morgan for an error........look for a ghost "CC" under the "O". I found one at an estate auction, and bought it for $31.00, and sold it to a coin dealer at a coin show in North Carolina for $325.00. No kidding. It was about an MS 62-63, and I only was going to have it slabbed, but he asked if it was for sale. Everything's for sale!

The coin I'm talking about is a 1900 O/CC. 1900 O "over" CC. There were no 1900-CC (Silver Dollars) made, so if you can see the faint image of a CC, you're likely looking at a 1900 O/CC.

Good luck.

And good job protecting those coins.
