Besides half cents and large cents, you'd have half dimes, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars. Gold coins could be quarter eagle, half eagles, and eagles. Not too many coins dated 1836 made though.

Foreign coins were still legal tender in 1836 as well. Earlier obsolete coins were still in circulation, so the list of what may have been circulating is huge!

Hello everyone,

The predominant foreign coin in circulation would have been the 8 Reales, 4 Reales, & 2 Reales of Minted in Mexico, and pre 1823 spanish reales of the same denominations still in circulation also minted in Mexico. This continued until the coin act of 1857. In 1836 many loans, titles, deeds & ptp and other documents would still have the monetary value in "spanish milled dollars".
